sergey must have run out of steam, those final two games were a massacre, he wasn't able to show his real playing strength. game 1 against gelfand also was a bit "unlucky" as ..Ra6! was a real shocker by a player like gelfand who is about equal in raw playing strength, although considerably more experienced.

sergey should get some rest and then start preparing thoroughly for corus where he has to face the best players in the world like carlsen, anand and kramnik who are definitely stronger chess players than sergey at the moment, but still anything can happen and sergey might be in for a surprise!

Well, all losses are caused by subpar level of play.
Gelfand is simply a better player, not equal, as the previous erroneously claimed, and the result was expected.

Good thing is that Sergey is young, and has certainly more space for development, but unfortunately for him there's a player called Magnus Carlsen and onther members of the Great Five.

I cannot see him as a World Champion. Breaking into top 5 is his ceiling, I reckon based on the dynamics of his career so far...
